About the Session

Many people in the e-learning realm are attempting to use gamification and serious games to spark employee engagement and drive learning retention. Everyone is working to make the best serious game that will enhance the learning objectives and retain learning. The biggest setbacks for some of these serious games and gamified learning experiences have been little-to-no planning, tough to pinpoint metrics, little-to-no implementation strategy, and insufficient or nonexistent post-deployment support.

Serious games are living, breathing, evolving things, unlike our e-learning modules we put on the shelf. This session will talk about planning, developing, implementing, and supporting serious games for companies that have never gone down the route of serious games and gamified learning experiences.

Session Objectives

  1. Provide learners with the best practices to ensure a successful serious game implementation.
  2. Discuss the first steps into getting into the realm.
  3. Understand how these serious games are living, breathing things.
  4. Learn best practices taken by other organizations in regards to phases of the effort.
  5. Take away best practices, what not to do, and how to support serious games at their organization.

About the Speaker

For over a decade, Andrew has made it his personal mission to ensure that commonly-used ineffective and lackluster training techniques are a thing of the past. Realizing his passion for changing the way we learn and evolve, in 2006 he founded and became President of Designing Digitally, Inc., an E-Learning and Serious Game Development firm that creates fully customized learner retention solutions for various types of industries. Starting with a solo team, Designing Digitally has grown its staff to 20 cutting edge employees consisting of Directors, Project Managers, Interactive Web Developers, Interactive Media Developers, Instructional Designers, Interactive Graphic Designers, and Learning Solutions Specialists.

Throughout the years, through his company he has had the pleasure of working with courteous and prestigious clients to include: NASA, Google, Comcast, Hewlett Packard, Wyndham Hotels, Procter and Gamble, General Electric, the United States Air Force, Samsung, and Williams-Sonoma to name a few.

Andrew is also strongly devoted to the prosperity of the community. He is currently a Professor at the University of Cincinnati Clermont in the Business, Law, and Technology Department, and Accredited Curriculum Consultant for the Accreditation of Independent Colleges and Schools, along with being Coordinator for the Business Development Plan contest hosted by the Clermont Chamber of Commerce, is an avid guest speaker at over two dozen E-Learning and industry specific conferences annually.
