Production
What skills does a virtual producer need?
Virtual producers need platform fluency, calm problem-solving skills, and effective communication to manage technology and learner support.
The best producers bring more than technical know-how—they also understand the flow of virtual instruction and learner psychology. A skilled producer anticipates tech issues before they happen, supports facilitators in managing pacing and transitions, and connects quietly with learners who need help.
They must also be able to juggle multiple tools (Zoom, Teams, Adobe Connect, etc.), troubleshoot under pressure, and communicate with empathy, professionalism, and clarity—all while staying largely invisible.
Essential Producer Skills:
- Platform Mastery: Deep working knowledge of tools like Zoom, Adobe Connect, WebEx, or Teams.
- Problem Solving: Ability to respond to tech issues without disrupting learning.
- Instructional Awareness: Understand pacing, timing, and instructional goals.
- Learner Advocacy: Spot when learners are lost or disengaged—and respond helpfully.
- Communication: Professional, calm, and clear with both learners and facilitators.
